Andrew Brown in the Telegraph (15th Nov)

"Talking of truth and beauty, Latin is steadily creeping back in to fashion. When I was a child, committing the contents of Kennedy’s Latin Primer to memory was a grim and terrifying experience. Things are more pupil-friendly today. My wife has set up a “Latin club” at our children’s primary school.

It’s a proper class, but it happens after school has finished. Parents pay a small fee, which goes to the tutor. It only started last week, and the two classes are over-subscribed. This is in a school where many pupils do not have English as a first language. The teacher is having fun, he tells us: because it’s a club, the pupils actually want to be there"
